Pattern
Row 1: With A, ch 62, dc in 4th ch from hook and next ch, with B dc in next 3, *with A dc in next 3, with B dc in next 3; rep from * across. Fasten off B. (60 dcs)
Note: On Row 2, A should be working over B and C should be working over A.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn with A, dc in next 2, C dc in next 3, *A dc in next 3, C dc in next 3; rep from * across. Fasten off C. (60 dcs)
Note: On Row 3, A should be working over C, B should be working over A.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn with A, dc in next 2, B dc in next 3, *A dc in next 3, B dc in next 3; rep from * across. Fasten off B. (60 dcs)
Rows 4-21: Rep Rows 2-3.
Do not fasten off A.
Border
Rnd 1: With A, ch 3, turn, dc in each dc across, ending with (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last st. Working along row ends, work 2 dc in each row end across. Working along opposite side of starting ch, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first ch, dc in each ch across, ending with (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch. Working along row ends, work 2 dc in each row end across. Back to beginning, work (dc, ch 1, 2 dc in first st), sl st to ch-3 to join.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc around, working 3 dc in each ch-1 sp, sl st to ch-3 to join.
Fasten off.
Mitten Applique (make 2)
Row 1: With B, ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (6 scs)
Rows 2-10: Ch 1, turn, BLsc in each st across.
Fasten off, leaving a long enough tail for sewing.
Row 1: Attach C to first row end of Row 10, ch 3, dc in each row end across. (10 dcs)
Row 2-4: Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc across.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, sk next 3 sts, 5 dcs in next 2, sk in next 3 sts, sc in last. Working alongside of Mitten in row ends, sl st down to first C row end, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 3 sts, sl st into first C row end.
Row 6: Turn, sc in next 4 sts.
Row 7: Turn, sc in next 4 sts, sl st to first C row end.
Fasten off, leaving long enough tail for sewing.
Finishing
Place Mittens on Placemat and whip stitch into place, leaving the tops of the Mittens open for silverware.
